Welcome Baby Hayes Paten Carr!!!

Jen had her baby!! Noah was very excited to know that he had another girlfriend!! Hayes Paten Carr arrived into the world on Tuesday, December 15th, 2009. Mommy says that she is absolutely beautiful - even if she looks like her Daddy! She has red hair, and according to mommy - has more hair than Noah does! How funny!!

So, baby Hayes - Welcome to the world!! It's a scary place but I know that you are well loved and well protected!!!

Lady and Charlie - I wish you the best of luck with your new pack animal. I hope you welcome her as well as I welcomed Noah! Call me if you need some advice!! And don't be afraid when she tries to touch you - only when she pulls your ears! BUT - one thing that I have learned - always check to see if Mommy is looking before you tell Hayes to stop. I have learned that my Mommy has my back - even if it doesn't look like she does!

Glad you all are doing good!

And that's just the dog's (exciting) life!

One for me... One for you...

...is the only way that Noah will eat his goldfish crackers. And personally - I LOVE it! If Mommy does not give me a cracker when she gives it to him, then he tries to give me his. Then I get into trouble when I try to accept what he is giving me. There are several times that I go ahead and get the cracker that he is giving me because Mommy says that I have gotten too close to it. I knew that this kid would come in handy. I am really starting to like him! Everyone tried telling me this, but I just didn't see it to my advantage. But I do now!!

Noah does try to play with me now too. I am not too sure about this. I am still afraid that I will hurt him. He has watched my Mommy try to trigger a MD and now he does the same thing. Mommy will head butt me to get me going and now he does the same thing. And once my MD starts and I go running all over the place, he just laughs. It really is cute.

I know that you are dying for some updated pictures of our family... and I promise I will get them to you as soon as Daddy finishes with them. Mommy took some adorable fall/Halloween photos and some Alabama Roll Tide pictures. I will post them soon!!

And that's just the dog's life!

Praying for Jones

I am praying for my friend, Jones. He is very sick. Jones lives with Carlie and Brindle Swindle. Carlie told Mommy that Jones had to go to the ER last night to have a blood transfusion. He has some kind of immune problem that caused him to not be able to breathe and loose some blood. They have to get him tomorrow morning and take him to his vet. We will wait to see what they say.

Jones, I'm praying for you buddy! I pray that you get better real fast so that you can chase squirrels in the backyard with Brindle Swindle. And I'm praying for your family so that they will be strong for you! (Please pray with me!)

ALL BOY!!!

My brother is 100% all boy. And I am not used to this! He is all kinds of rough housing and pulling of my ears. And eating lady bugs. Yes, you heard that right. Mommy has found 4, count them, 1, 2, 3, 4 lady bugs in brothers mouth! Gross, huh? I don't even eat lady bugs!

And he makes all kinds of smells and noises that it is not even funny - but he certainly finds them funny. Example - I was sitting on the couch snuggling with my Mommy and he burped. Mommy looked at him and said "excuse me" and he laughed. He laughed for the next few minutes!

BUT - brother does have some very exciting news!! His FIRST tooth finally came in. It broke through on Wednesday, December 2nd. Mommy was very excited!!

Well - brother is in bed and I'm going to snuggle with my Mommy!

And that's just the dog's life!

Happy Thanks-A-Bunch Day

I want to take a minute out of my busy day to wish you a very Happy Thanks-A-Bunch Day!! I hope that you are enjoying some quality family time!!

I have so much to be thankful for. First of all, I am thankful that Mommy gave me some yummy turkey for lunch. It was delish! I am very thankful that I have a warm home and a warm blanket to sleep on. I am thankful for my king sized bed that Mommy and Daddy bought me a couple of years ago. But most of all, I am thankful for my family! I am thankful that I have my family to send Thanksgiving with and that I am not in a large cold cage today. BUT - I am very thankful also to Pell City Animal Shelter for caring for me while I was there a few years back.

Today was such a wonderful day. It was well spent with family. Mommy, Daddy, Noah and I headed to Momma Gena's house early this morning so that we could watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Mrs. Melissa, Mr. John, Maleah and Lacey were invited to New York City to march in the parade and ride a float! That was such an honor for them. Aunt Jennifer, Uncle Paul and Jake soon joined us. Aunt Barbara and Uncle Mike even came from Clanton and had lunch with the family.

Noah enjoyed Ham in Ham Gravy again. Boy did it get my nose going again! Mommy also let him have some dressing with his ham. He really liked that! Dr. Miller said that he could begin to have some "table scraps" of soft foods. I am glad that he can have table scraps because that means more for me!

Mommy, Daddy and Noah headed off to Grandma Dison's house for an afternoon of fun. I opted not to go, even though I love to smell the deer and horses. I chose to spend the afternoon in Momma Gena's lap! Daisy and Jack were there so I also knew the attention would not be mine! Angie, Tim, Rydan and Amanda all came to enjoy Thanksgiving with the family. Aunt Audrey and Uncle Marv could not come because he has been really sick. Amanda is spending the night with us, so we are having a slumber party! The family is coming over for an Iron Bowl party tomorrow. I have no idea what they are going to do with a bowl made of iron, but I am going to watch the Alabama/Auburn game. They are more than welcome to watch it with me if they like!

I really hope that you have enjoyed your Happy Thanks-a-bunch day! If you have not done so, take a minute and look at the people and things around you. Take a minute and say thanks for all that you have. You will be really glad that you did.

And that's just the dog's life!

Baby vs Beagle...

...and the Beagle wins, of course!!!! Always!!

Nina bought Noah some new food. Mommy really did not think Noah would like it because it was Ham in Ham gravy. Mommy says that it sounded (amd smelled) horrible but she decided to try it anyway. The jar had only been opened a few seconds and my nose sent off an alert to my brain. I had to get up and see what wonderful smell had triggered my nose. It was, of course, the ham in ham gravy! Yum-my! Noah was actually enjoying his meal when I decided that I would try to help. Mommy had a wet paper towel to help wipe off his face, but I could not help myself and decided to partake in the paper towel. I had it in shreds. I found the lid to the baby food jar and cleaned it off. Then, I decided that Mommy needed help wiping Noah down since I had taken care of the paper towel. Yes, that is right... I licked Noah's face! Nina was not happy with me when Mommy told her what I did. I was only trying to help. The good thing is that Noah thought that I was playing and laughed. So, when he laughed, I licked again... and again. I licked him 3 times. I just could not get enough ham and ham gravy. There were 2 bites left over when Noah was finished with lunch so Mommy did let me have those. I can not wait until Noah has ham and ham gravy again.

Hum... I wonder what is for lunch tomorrow!! Something good, I hope!

And that's just the dog's life!

A Trip to BabiesMart and PetsMart

Noah and I both had outings today - each being separate. Noah's outing was first.

Can you believe that my brother is 9 months old today! I can not believe how fast these 9 months have gone. He just gets better and better every day. He has finally hit the playful stage with me. Nina was here yesterday and she laughed when brother chased me down the hallway. I did not really know what to do with him, and still don't. But I just kind of ran around and he laughed. I thought that it was a successful play session. Mommy keeps telling me that he will get better and better.

But Noah had to go to BabiesMart this morning for his 9 month check up. Momma Gena went with Mommy and Noah since Daddy had to work. Dr. Miller gave Noah a good bill of health. He is now 19 lbs 12 oz and is 29 inches long. He is 40th percentile for his weight and 80th percentile for his length. We obviously new that his length would be long - given how tall Mommy and Daddy both are. As for Noah's bad sleeping habits, well, Dr. Miller did not tell Mommy what she wanted to hear. It is going to take some work, but Mommy is going to have to get Noah on a better daily schedule and he is going to have to fuss it out at night until he gets the routine down. Looks like Daddy and I will have several nights of sleeping on the couch! I assured my Mommy that I had no trouble coming up with my sleeping routine! Get up in the morning, go out side, go to couch to sleep. Move upstairs to sleep on couch, go back down stairs to sleep on couch. Move to sunshine at front door, sleep some more. Eat dinner, play a few minutes, lounge on the couch with Daddy, go upstairs to bed and sleep. And my day starts all over tomorrow! I will keep you posted on Noah's sleeping progress.

And I got a trip to PetsMart today as well. I was well overdue for a pet-icure, so off Mommy and I went for a ride. Noah was taking his afternoon nap, so it was just Mommy and me. We had such a good time. I am asking Santa for a new daytime, so Mommy and I looked and picked out a couple that I really like. My daytime is currently red and people constantly use the phrase "he" or "him" around me, so I think that it is time to go back to a pink daytime so that there is NO DOUBT that I am a SHE!!

I was not really thrilled with having to go today because I thought that I was going to see the doctor. I went into the same door. The nurse lady really had to drag me in there - and I mean drag because my paws were planted on the floor and I was sliding in the room. Mommy felt really bad and tried to assure me but it did no good. The nurse told Mommy that we would be right back. Mommy went off shopping again and I had to page her when I came out the door. Mommy came quickly and told me to hush. I let the entire store know that my toes had been cut off. I caused quite a ruckus. I even saw Mr. Ron, Momma Gena's neighbor (Roxy's Daddy) and he even tried to talk to me and calm me. But I also told him about it. Mommy did let me visit with the C-A-T's before leaving and we made a stop by the guinea pigs. I love tormenting the cats and rats. It is as close as I will ever get to a cat. I have to smell them while I can!!

And that's just the dog's life!

WANTED: Babysitting Job

If you ever need someone to babysit, or you know of someone who needs a babysitter, just call me!! I had the opportunity to babysit Noah for Mommy yesterday, and I think that I did a pretty darn good job! Noah was taking a nap and Mommy had to walk outside for a few minutes (note: she did take the baby monitor with her!!) I was inside the house with Noah. Mommy was outside only for a few minutes when Noah woke up. Mommy instantly heard him and came inside. When she got inside, I had opened the door to the nursery and started talking to my brother to tell him that Mommy was coming. (I was actually yelling for Mommy to hurry up because Brother was crying and I was upset!)

Mommy said that I did a really good job watching Noah. It has now gone to my head and I think that I can babysit anyone!!

Daddy has also decided that I know when Brother wakes up from his nap. Several times this past week I alerted Daddy that Noah was up. Since Mommy, Daddy and Papaw are now working from my house, Brother has the privilege to nap in his own bed. Daddy shut the door to the nursery and also to our bedroom (cause Noah's nursery is in our bedroom) so not to disturb him. On 2 different days, I went to the bedroom door and begged to be let in. After minutes of begging, Daddy finally let me in. Both times, Brother was awake and ready to play. So, whoever said a dog does not have intuition or instincts is TOTALLY wrong!!

I try to be such a good big sister. Noah is having a really rough time sleeping right now. So much so, he was awake from 12:45 am until 2:30 am this morning. Mommy finally took Brother downstairs so that he would not disrupt me and Daddy and our precious sleeping! I could not sleep knowing that Mommy was downstairs. I hopped out of my comfy blanket and headed downstairs to help Mommy out. I curled up on the couch beside her. Before we knew it (around 2:30 am) me, Mommy and Brother were all curled up asleep on the couch together. I think we slept that way until 4:30 am. Mommy woke up and woke me up and upstairs to bed we headed. Brother woke up again less than a hour later but Mommy easily got him back to sleep. The 3 of us slept until 9 am and we all missed church this morning.

Mommy thinks that Noah's sleeping issue is based on teething. He will be 9 months old on Tuesday so Mommy will be talking to the doctor about ways to fix this issue. Brother does not have a single tooth yet, so as Mommy says, no Thanksgiving turkey for him!! HAHA!

And that's just the dog's (tiring) life!

Girl's Night Out

I had a wonderful night tonight!!! Mommy had a girlie party at our house and I actually got to stay and enjoy the fun this time!! Mommy is now a demonstrator for Uppercase Living and tonight was her first Open House and it was at our house. We had 12 people, 3 babies and 2 demonstrators. I only helped myself to the food table twice! Shawn came to play tonight and brought a hamburger that he had for dinner. It was left on the kitchen table and I decided that he was finished with it. Noah also got to stay and play tonight... and boy did he play! He crawled all over the place! The 3rd baby was Iris. Her mom, Sarah, is the demonstrator who was helping my Mommy out. She is a young baby, she is only 3 months old.

If you are interested in hosting an Uppercase Living Open House for my mommy, just email her at
weddgirl@ymail.com. You can also visit her UL website at http://randifunderburg.uppercaseliving.net/ and purchase any cool products there.

Underdog

Mommy and I figured out that I missed my opportunity as Underdog. I really hate that I missed it! We were watching Good Morning America this morning and they announced that Broadway Across America now has 101 Dalmatians touring as a Broadway play. I have never seen what a Broadway play is, but I did see several Dalmatian dogs on tv and that caught my attention enough. The man that they interviewed trained all of the dogs for the play. He was asked where he got the dogs. His answer: multiple places. Some are stray dogs that were found on the streets and many of them were rescue dogs they received from animal shelters and Dalmatian rescue groups.

Mommy and Daddy got me from the Pell City Animal Shelter just under 3 years ago. I wonder what tv/movie/broadway company would have come to Pell City in search for me for my stardom premiere. I just know that I would have been swept up!

Daddy said that I would have never made it as Underdog because that would mean that I would have to work. I would not be able to lounge on the couch all day long. But I would have made a darn good Underdog!!!! I missed my chance for fame! Oh well!

And that's just a dog's life!

Wiser with Age

I have finally gained some wisdom with my years. The family talks about the smart but unusual things that Freckles used to do. One uncommon thing was sitting to eat. Freckles would always sit at her bowl when she would eat dinner. Mommy says that it was so funny to see the rear end of a basset hound down on the floor eating. Freckles' food bowl was on the opposite side of the refrigerator at Momma Gena's old house and all you could see was her rear end sticking out from the fridge. Daddy said that he has never heard of a dog sitting to eat. That is definitely not something that I do!

Freckles would also place her paw on a plate when GrandDanny gave it to her to lick. She had learned with age that there is no point in chasing the paper plate - just put your paw on it and it will stay still. When I first joined the family and learned to lick plates clean, I chased those things all over the place. The family tried to tell me to hold on to it, but I did not know what I was doing. Well, I have finally learned what they were talking about! I now put my paw on my plate to keep it still so that I can clean in. It definitely makes more sense to me. Why did I not think of that earlier??? HAHA! I guess I need to learn from Freckles. She was very wise with her age. Maybe I should start sitting to eat ... oh wait, Noah tries to play in my food bowls so they have gotten moved to the counters. Mommy has to be very careful when she gives me my dinner because Noah will try to play with my food. He is not so wise with his age yet - he does not know that it is not polite to play with your food or any one else - ESPECIALLY MINE!!

And that's just the dog's life!

Momma Gena's Disappointment

Well, I have done it now. I officially have disappointed my Momma Gena! She and GrandDanny were working in the turnip green patch and found a dead rat in the patch. They assume that he has been there for a couple of days and that he ate some of the stout garlic that is planted there and it killed him. I know how bad garlic smells when Mommy is cooking with it, so I could not imagine how strong it would be in a rat's mouth. Talk about bad breath! So I disappointed my Momma Gena because I did not see or smell the dead rat. The sad thing is that I was at her house all day yesterday and took many trips into the yard and my nose let me down! Not once did I smell where he had been. Funny thing is that I noticed it immediately today when I got there. I followed my "Happy Trails" trail and went right straight to were the deceased had laid. Gonna have to check to see what is wrong with my nose! Must be the sinus infection that Mommy and I have been fighting!

And that's just the dog's life!

Full of Tricks

I made it through another Halloween without too many tricks but lots of treats! The annual Halloween bash in the Kidron neighborhood took place. There were lots of kids and a fun hay ride. I did not get to ride in the hay ride, but I went trick or treating to every door with the 15 kids that attended. While the kids received their treats, I left tricks at every mailbox. It sure was fun!

Noah and Jake also enjoyed their Halloween. The dynamic duo dressed as Tigger (Noah) and Pooh (Jake). I was so glad to see these 2 come along because I did not have to dress us this year. It was WONDERFUL!! But, my family has already made of for it. Momma Gena found me a costume for next year at Target - and she bought it! She found a hot dog costume for $.99. Said that she could not resist. Too bad it was just my size! I will have to call up Bear and tell him! Maybe we can dress alike for the Petsmart costume party!

And that's just the dog's life!

Paw and Snout Disease

Well, Noah had to go to the doctor for his sickness. He had fever on Tuesday and even into Wednesday morning, but by Thursday he had quit eating. Mommy called the doctor and took him to Babiesmart (I guess that is what it is called - my doctor is at Petsmart so I assume his is at Babiesmart.) Anyway, the doctor diagnosed him with Paw and Snout Disease. It means that he has sores on his hands, feet and mouth. The sores in his mouth made him not eat.

By Friday morning, Mommy and Daddy both had it also. It was not a fun weekend in our house. Papaw wanted me to go stay at his house with him to be sure that I didn't get Paw and Snout Disease, but it was a good thing that I did not go because he ended up with it also. My whole family was taken over by this. It was not nice. Mommy, Daddy and Papaw all ran high fevers, and by high, I mean, 103.4. Momma Gena and GrandDanny brought food over for my family and would help take care of me and Noah, but they did not want to stay too long. They feared that they would get it also.

Fortunately everyone is now better and life is back to normal!!

And that's just the dog's life!

No Howl-o-ween Party

Last night was the annual "Howl-o-ween" dog costume contest and party at Petsmart. Mommy and I worked hard to come up with a costume for me to wear. But we did not get to go. And my costume was going to be great! I was going to be a hunting dog and wear camo and an orange hat. Papaw even matched me. If you remember, this was the party last year that I met Bear at. I wonder how Bear is doing?? I have not seem him since. And we never got together to play! :-(

Noah got sick and we could not go. He started running a high fever and it was at its highest when we would have been at the party. So I had to "change hats" and go from hunting dog to nurse dog.

It really bothered me that my brother was sick. He did not feel like playing and that scared me. I tried to get as close as I could and wanted to smell his breath. When Mommy was rocking him, I sat as close to Papaw as I could. Daddy could not be home with us last night because he had an obligation at the church. But he got home as fast as he could when he found out that Noah's fever was 104.

Mommy put Noah in a cold bath and he did not like that. Bless his heart, he screamed! Papaw got in the floor and played with him while he was in the bath and he got laughing. Fortunately the cold water helped lower his body temperature.

He is feeling better today. His fever is gone, but you can still tell that he is not quite 100% yet. Mommy and Daddy had a long night of taking care of him because he kept waking up. I got up one time with him, but that really was just to take a quick walk outside. Daddy had to come and get me because I started barking at something in the field across the creek and Daddy was afraid that I would wake the neighbors.

Mommy has been cleaning today to get all of the germs gone. I hate cleaning day because that means the vacuum cleaner comes out. I'll just keep my cozy position on the couch!

And that's just the dog's life!

Infestation

Quick, call the pest control... My neighborhood has been infested with a pest!! I do NOT like this infestation problem and something must be done about it. They keep bothering me. They know that they are bothering me and they agg me on. Dang kitty cats!!

I had 2 different ones looking at me yesterday. One was parked under Papaw's truck and the other was across the street looking at me. Mommy made me go out the back door because Papaw just happened to be on a business call at the time. The C-A-T noticed where I had gone and decided to walk beside my fence while I was in the yard. HOW DARE THAT CAT!!

A similar thing happened Thursday night, except the (same) C-A-T walked by my tree in my front yard. Mommy thought that I was going to owe her a set of blinds for the front window. Good thing I did not break it because that would have cost me a fortune in treats.

These C-A-T-S really know that they bother me and they do it on purpose. I think they just like hearing me talk to them!

That DARN CAT!

Jail Mickey Mouse is not so magical - ask Daddy!

This story does not involve me, but it is really funny and I felt it worthy to be blogged!!

My Daddy almost went to Jail Mickey Mouse while they were gone. But from what we understand, Jail Mickey Mouse would not have been as magical as every thing else Mickey Mouse is.

Thursday night of their trip, the family decided that they wanted to go to Fort Wilderness and have dinner. In order to do this, they had to go to the transportation center, ride a monorail to the Contemporary Resort and then catch a boat to Fort Wilderness. After dinner, they enjoyed the boat ride back to the Contemporary. They did get to enjoy the fireworks for Magic Kingdom while they were on the boat back. They walked through the hotel and decided to do some shopping before catching the monorail back to the transportation center. Once they got back to the suburban and started unloading, Papaw realized that Mommy and Daddy had lost Noah's baby bag backpack. They instantly remembered that Daddy had set it on the bench in the hotel while they were shopping and it had been forgotten.

Daddy drives over to a security guard in the parking lot and tells him what they had done. The guard radios the Contemporary Hotel and finds out that they back has been located. The guard says "GREAT" and to meet us at the dog kennel with the bag. Daddy, Mommy, Noah, Papaw and Nina follow the security guard through all of these back roads of Disney World. Daddy has NO clue where they are and how to even begin to get out of there. Once they get to where the kennel is, the guard motions for Daddy to keep following him. They next thing they know, they are pulling up at the hotel. The guard asks Daddy to come with him. When Daddy gets to where the bag was left, he finds 4 other security guards, a hotel manager and a German Shepard. The German Shepard is a police drug dog and is investigating the suspicious bag. The bag had not been touched! It takes Daddy about 20 minutes to convince the security guards and drug dog that it is in fact his bag. Daddy finally remembers that his drivers licence is in Mommy's wallet, which is also in the bag. He said that he had to describe what the wallet looked like and exactly where it was in the bag before they would let him open it. Sure enough, it was there and everything was ok. They had to do a inventory of everything that was in the bag before Daddy could leave.

THEN, the hotel manager asked Daddy where he was staying. He had to confess that they were not staying inside the Disney grounds. The manager was NOT thrilled that they were in the hotel without being guests of the hotel. It looked a little weird that Daddy was really where he should not have been.

SO - Mommy and Daddy almost shut down the Contemporary Hotel and Monorail System at Walt Disney World for a suspicious black baby bag backpack was left face down on a bench in the hotel. OOPS!! Jail Mickey Mouse would not have been magical with brooms flying about like the movies make it to be. Daddy almost got to find out!! HAHA!!

And that's just Daddy's "not so magical" life at Disney World!

So Long Woody!!

I am very sad to report that the Walker Family and the Funderburg Family lost a very important member of their family... Woody William Walker (or "www." as I thought of him!) Woody belonged to Uncle Paul long before he and Aunt Jennifer became a family, and long before Jake was in the picture. Woody passed away while his family was in Orlando.

He was very sick and had a really hard time getting around. It really is for the best, but very difficult as well. Woody lived with me at my house for 2 months before his new house was ready, so we had time to become buddies. I last saw Woody on Labor Day and knew then that would probably be the last time that I saw him.

Woody, I want you to know that we appreciate you and all that you did your 14 years here. You will always be remembered, NEVER forgotten!! Even though Jake will not be able to physically remember you, but he will always know who his first dog was. We thank you, Woody and we love you!!

And that's just the dog's life!

I really am ok...

even though I have not posted in so long. You would not believe all that has been going on. I do not even know where to start. WOW!!

I guess that I will start with the fact that Bubbles & Bells did close. It was a very tough time for my Mommy, but she is strong and pulled through. She still has some aspects of it hanging over her, but hopefully soon it will all be behind her. She and Daddy, along with Nina and Papaw are working on some new business endeavors that will hopefully give some exciting opportunities for them, and for me. I can't elaborate too much yet, but I will as soon as I am given the ok!

The WHOLE family headed off for vacation, but they did not take me with them. I was very worried at first, but I had a good time without them. (Don't tell them that I said that!) Mommy, Daddy, Noah, Nina, Papaw, Momma Gena, GrandDanny, Aunt Jennifer, Uncle Paul and Jake all headed off for Disney World on September 26th. They drove for 9+ hours to Orlando, Florida just to see a Mouse! I could have found one here for them, but NN-OO!! Alex came and stayed with me while they were gone. We had a really good time that week. I was in 10th grade that week and had to study for lots of tests. After school, Alex and I spent the afternoons studying and catching up on the day's sports.

I guess I could give you a Noah update!! He is crawling! He is all into my dog food. Mommy and Daddy keep putting my bowls on the kitchen table to keep him from getting into them. Now, they know that I am not allowed on the table, cause they tell me that, but then they go and put my food and water on there. Isn't that double standards? No, I have not jumped on the table, but let me tell you, the temptation is there. Noah and I keep getting eye to eye now. We are officially on the same level. Mommy says that he is about to be real fun for me. He is now eating some snacks, which he passes some on to me. I did not really realize what an asset he would be for me. He is finally paying off! HAHA!

A party at my house... Mommy's best friend, Jen (Lady and Charlie's Mommy) is having a baby in a couple of months and Mommy decided to have a party for her at our house. This means that we had 4 days of house cleaning (YUCK!) and my babies and bedroom were moved out of the house. I was very worried at first and did not understand what was happening. I really thought that I was getting shafted! Every time Mommy has a party at our house, I get the boot. Daddy always gets the boot to, so it is usually not too bad. Noah also got the boot. So the 3 of us loaded up and headed off to GrandDanny's house. Mommy made breakfast for us, so it was ok. And yes, I said "us"... I got some biscuit too!!

Well, that about sums up the last 3 weeks all together. I have a couple of other stories that I am going to post about because they deserve their own posts. But they are above this post, so by the time you are reading this, you have already read them. Oh well!! Do I at least get an A for effort? Or would that be an E for effort??

Important Announcement

Mommy has an important announcement to make.... Bubbles & Bells is closing!

Mommy has decided that it is time to pursue wedding planning full time, therefore she is closing the retail store. I am sad for Mommy, but yet very excited! I am excited because Mommy and Noah will now be working from home where I am each day. I did not like the new B&B because I could not go to work any more.

Mommy, Noah and I are also working together on a new adventure. So check back soon for an exciting (and happy) announcement!

An (interesting) trip to Bubbles & Bells

So, I told you last night that Momma Gena and GrandDanny have headed to Ohio for a mission trip! Daddy decided to borrow Momma Gena's car for the week since Noah can not ride in the putt-putt truck. Mommy had to work today, so this was a great opportunity for Daddy to keep Noah and be able to take him somewhere. Mommy needed some help printing some invitations, so Daddy pack me and Noah up and off we went!!

Daddy decided to take the car key off of Momma Gena's key ring and put it on his. He says that he did not want the girly key ring, but Mommy and I know that it is because he would not be able to keep up with 2 key rings. Daddy did not realize that Momma Gena's car has a key to unlock the door and a key to start the car... well, the key to unlock the door is locked in the car. Noah and I are stuck at Bubbles & Bells.

There are 2 spare keys to the door of Momma Gena's car... they are both in Ohio! Not a good day for Daddy! Papaw is very good about getting into cars, but he is at a wedding. Daddy has called Pop-A-Lock and $40 later, we are in the car!! What a day!

Ear Pulls and Tail Wags

Life has officially gone to a new level with all of these babies around. Jake is almost 14 months old and Noah almost 6 months old. Jake is now walking all over the place and Noah is rolling all around. Mommy will put Noah on a pallet in the living room, go do something in the kitchen to come back and find Noah clear across the room from where she left him. I really have to be on my toes to protect myself.

Mommy is very good about making sure that Noah is gentle with me. She lets him rub me, and I sit patiently, all while Mommy says "Gentle". I am ok with Noah rubbing me because I know that as long as Mommy is there, I am safe.

But I finally got if from Jake tonight. We are Momma Gena and GrandDanny's house tonight because they are leaving tomorrow morning for Ohio for a mission trip. I was laying, like a good girl, on my rug, minding my own business and Jake pulled my ear. I yelped... it hurt. I cried and Jake cried. The family laughed! Jake and I did NOT find this funny. I ran to my Mommy and then I ran and sat on the couch with Uncle Paul--- that was my "safe" spot.

Sometimes I accidentally wag my tail in Noah's face. Mommy doesn't particularly like this, but says that Noah's face is funny. He sits there just blinking his eyes.

I know that this was only the first of MANY ear pulls to come. I just didn't see it coming this soon. I will be ok. I will survive. But only as long as I get treats and loves following the ear pulls.

And that's just the dog's life!

If only I had been there...

Momma Gena called me yesterday. I missed a prime opportunity at her house on Monday. There have been rumors floating in the Kidron 'hood that there are wild
c-a-t-s messing things up. She always makes sure that GrandDanny turns the lights on for me when I am in the back yard and it is dark. She wants to make sure that there are no wild c-a-t-s trying to get me, or me to get them!! So, Monday afternoon, Momma Gena, GrandDanny and Jake go next door to see Mrs. Dot. As they are leaving Mrs. Dot's house, they notice that a baby raccoon is laying in the yard. Apparently something has gotten it. We are afraid of a wild c-a-t. But can you imagine the commotion that I would have caused if I had seen the baby raccoon first. Mommy says that every hair on my body would have stood up.

GrandDanny took care of the baby raccoon and Momma Gena says that it is in Heaven. Poor baby... if I had only gotten there first!

And that's just the dog's life!

I am so confused

Mommy can not fuss at me. It really is not my fault. She even told me so this morning.

I have a new routine. Whenever I come inside from checking out my backyard (aka. "doing my business") I always beg for a treat. (well, that is not the new routine.) This has been an always thing for me. It does not matter where I am, I always ask for one. Freckles taught me this trick, and it works! So, my new routine is taking the treat that Mommy or Daddy gives me and I put a baby (my stuffed animal) in my mouth, and I go to the top of the stairs and I eat my treat. Yes, this means that all of my babies end up upstairs. And they are just scattered everywhere. (I'll have to take a picture and show you.) Well, sometimes I get so many treats that my basket ends up empty. That was the case this morning. Mommy lets me in, gives me my treat and I grab a baby and head off up the stairs slowly. Mommy caught up with me on the stairs only to find that I did not have my baby in my mouth. I had one of Noah's babies. It really is not my fault. How am I supposed to know the difference between my babies and his babies? So, this one was a little larger, a little heavier and it did not squeak. It sings "Jesus Loves Me". Mommy said the only thing better would have been if I set the music off and it started singing to me.

Mommy grabbed the toy out of my mouth and tried to give me a new baby, but it just wasn't the same. I ate my treat downstairs and pouted all the way of the stairs.

So, how am I to tell the difference in my babies and his babies? 5 months ago, there were only 1 set of babies in my house!!

And that's just the dog's life!

Happy Trails To You

You must know how much I LOVE spending the day at Momma Gena and GrandDanny's house. I have my routine down from the moment I walk in the door to the moment I leave! As soon as I get there, I instantly must check on both Momma Gena and GrandDanny. Then I must go outside to check out my backyard. There are rumors floating around the 'hood that their are either wild cats or bob cats in the woods, so I must check to see if they have entered my yard.

I walk out the door into the screened porch, out onto the patio and into the yard. I walk in the same path every time. I have walked my "trail" so much that I have made a path of my walk way. Mommy sings "Happy Trails To You" as Momma Gena and GrandDanny fuss at me for the path in the grass.

I am so programed! There is no changing me. I enter the backyard at least 100 times while I am their house. The rest of the time is spent either in Momma Gena's lap, sunning on the the front bed or begging for a W-A-L-K.

As soon as Mommy or Daddy get there, I give my kisses and have a mini- "MD". I go outside then back in and straight to my food bowl. I always tump my food bowl over so that all of the food goes everywhere. I do make a mess, but I usually always clean it up. I always begin to eat as soon as I realize that it is time to go home. Literally... there have been times that Mommy is packing up Noah and I begin to eat. Once I begin to eat, Daddy sits back down. I leisurely take my time eating and then must again check out my back yard.

I love spending days at Momma Gena and GrandDanny's house. I prefer Noah not to be with me while I am there because he messes up my valuable lap time.

So, "Happy Trails, To You!!!"

And that's just the dog's life!

Dog Pack Attacks Gator In Florida

At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a certain justice manifested within that cruelty.

The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally considered the "apex predator", can still fall victim to implemented 'team work' strategy, made possible due to the tight knit social structure and "survival of the pack mentality" bred into the canines.

See the remarkable photograph below courtesy of Nature Magazine.

Note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it from breathing, while another dog has a hold on the tail to keep it from thrashing. The third dog attacks the soft underbelly of the gator.

Not for the squeamish...

Update with photos

I had to fuss at my Mommy. She has not done a good job of giving me pictures to post for you to see. You would think that with my family being professional photographers that we would have pictures galore. Well, we don't. Mommy does a good job taking the pictures, but she does nothing with them. I have agreed to try to help Mommy do a better job.

In the meantime, here are a bunch of updated photos:

Me - look at how pretty I am! :-)

Mommy and Daddy were cleaning the house and I found my spot... it was perfect... my bed, on the rugs on the patio in the sunshine. Couldn't find anything better!

Daddy helping Noah swim at Jake's birthday party!

Noah's first bite of sweet potatoes. He really did enjoy them!

Noah's first bite of food. He ate rice cereal.

Mommy loves this photo. This is Noah's hand resting on Nanny's hand. It is so sweet!

They had gotten to the last bite so Nanny let him drink it from the bowl.

That is just about all of it. Nothing too exciting been going on. Daddy and Papaw are busy photographing weddings each weekend right now.
I will let you know if anything exciting happens!

A Sick Day

I am sick this week and I do not feel good. I have decided that it is Noah's fault. Noah had to go to the doctor last week for a cold. That is right... Noah had his first sick baby appointment. Dr. Miller told Mommy and Daddy that it was just the common non-contagious baby cold and that he would be perfectly fine. WELL - I think I caught it.

I woke up yesterday morning with a cough. I really worried Mommy. I tried to make myself "throw up" but I could not. Eventually I had shoestrings hanging from my mouth. So, Daddy loaded me up and off to the doctor I went. I had stopped coughing by the time that I arrived to see Dr. Early. They did a bunch of tests on me, including an x-ray and blood work just to determine that I have an upper respiratory infection. I am on 2 different medicines that Daddy pushes down my throat. One twice a day and the other three times a day... NOT FUN!

I spent the Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday at Momma Gena and GrandDanny's house. I really have not felt good. Dr. Early decided to go ahead with my scheduled "Big Girl" appointment and so I received a bunch of shots. Now my leg is swollen.

So, I blame all of this on Noah. He was sick first, so I think I caught it from him. Hopefully I will feel better soon!

OUCH!

Stupid me! It is my fault!

I am playing at Momma Gena and GrandDanny's house today. I was in the back yard helping GrandDanny. I decided that I would try to help by killing a wasp. How did I kill it? Well, my paws can't use a fly swatter, so I used my paw. Well, guess who won? Not me! The wasp stung my paw and it hurts really bad!

I am limping and holding my paw up as I walk. GrandDanny called my Daddy and Mommy called the nurse. :-(

I have now taken some benadryl and will snooze really well for the rest of the afternoon! There goes my walk for the day! Oh well!

And that's just the (sad) dog's life!

Happy Birthday, Jake & Mommy

To Jake:
Happy Birthday to you...
Happy Birthday to you...
Happy Birthday, dear Jake...
Happy Birthday to you!!! (woof, woof, woof)

Jake turned 1 yesterday and he had a blow out of a party. I was not able to go, but Mommy and Daddy told me all about it. He had lots of family and friends come to his house for a fish fry and water play. Noah even swam for the first time. From what I understand, he did not like it too much!

And I want to tell my Mommy a very special Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday to you...
Happy Birthday to you...
Happy Birthday, dear Mommy...
Happy Birthday to you!!! (woof, woof, woof!!)

Tomorrow is Mommy's birthday. She will finally be as old as me! This will be the last time that we will be the same age. If I am 4 and a dog's year averages to be 7 years, that will tell you how old Mommy is!

Tomorrow is going to be a fun day for us. Daddy has decided to take off of work and stay home to play with Mommy, Noah and I. I think Mommy and Daddy are going to go to dinner and a movie tomorrow night, but that will mean that Noah and I can not go. I wonder what we are going to do? Guess I will have to baby sit again.

I am such a good baby sitter. I got to be in charge one day last week for Mommy. Noah was still sleeping in his bed and Mommy decided to try to take a quick shower. Noah woke up just as Mommy was about to get in. She instead decided to hold off on the shower and check on Noah. It took her a second to get to him (and he was crying by then) but I was in his room checking on him. I kept barking at Mommy until she had him quiet. (He wanted his breakfast!) Mommy knows that I did not wake Noah up. I did not bark until after Mommy got into the nursery. She did have to raise the bumper pads so that I could put my paws on the side of the bed to look in at my brother. Once I saw that he was ok, I was good to go! I had done my duty! I often check in on him at night before I go to be. So I guess I can take time out of my busy day tomorrow to take care of Noah for Mommy and Daddy. It will not be too bad. I do have 2 rules when I baby sit: 1. I do not change diapers! 2. Payment must be made in full prior to the job and when the job is complete (get that, I get 2 treats!)

And that's just the dog's life!

Happy (Belated) Fathers Day

I want to wish a belated Happy Fathers Day to the top 3 men in my life, my Daddy, Papaw and GrandDanny!

I did not get Daddy or Papaw a Fathers Day card, but I got one for GrandDanny. Why just for him, I don't know. Mommy found this one in the store and it fit perfectly! It said:
"Happy Father's Day to someone who must think the world of me!" (this was on the front)
(inside) "Why else would you pick up my poop in little plastic baggies. And why do you do that anyway? Happy Father's Day" Then on the back it says "You might want to grab one of your little baggies."

This card was So appropriate for GrandDanny because when I am at his house I constantly beg for walks. You know me and my walks! I LOVE them! In their "hood" the poop has to be picked up. Poor GrandDanny has to take about 4 bags with him on our walks!

And that's just the dog's life!

New Kid on the Block

We have a new kid in the "hood"... I saw her walking down the street. Her name is Gracie and she lives with Gretta. Their owner takes them for a walk each day and I talk to them as they walk by. Gracie is a Basset Hound and she looks just like Freckles used to look. Momma Gena almost teared as she walked by. She pranced by just like she owns the "hood". I am here to tell her that I was here first and it is my "hood"!

Have I told you about Gretta? I meant to! Gretta is a boxer. She is very playful! Before Gracie came along, Gretta went on walks each day with her owner. Her owner would not hold on to the leash and Gretta would walk where she wanted to. Well, Gretta decided to come in to my house for a visit the day Daddy brought Mommy and Noah home from the hospital. GrandDanny was at my house bringing me back home and he had the front door open. Well, Gretta decided to help herself in for a visit. It was kind of funny! Gretta has not been back since.

Gretta's mommy is a foster mommy to dogs who do not have a home. We noticed that Gretta had different dogs walking with her and could not figure it out. Then we noticed Gracie - simply because of Freckles. Mommy finally asked her. She said that animal shelters are hurting for some foster parents. Mommy wishes we could do it, but we have too much going on right now. We are trying to talk Momma Gena and GrandDanny into it. But then I might loose my spot on the favorite list! I am on top right now... well, maybe not, they went south again without me! Anyway... so Gracie was a foster puppy but is making a permanent stop on Marchester Circle. She is here to stay!

I am thinking of asking Mommy if Gretta and Gracie can come into my fence and play for a bit. I would be ok with Gracie because she reminds me of Freckles, or a skinny Freckles.

And that's just the dog's life... in the "hood"!

South Again...

Yep, that is right. Momma Gena and GrandDanny are south again... without me, again! Will I ever get to go to the beach? They took Aunt Jennifer, Uncle Paul and Jake with them this time. Mommy, Daddy and Noah opted not to go. Mommy and Noah are at work today while Daddy and I work in the yard. That is actually a lie, I am not working in the yard with Daddy. I am snoozing on the couch in the air conditioner. He is cutting grass and planting Mommy's new plants. She has a new rose and a hydrangea bush that she bought for her birthday.

So, the family is gone again without me. I am glad that Mommy and Daddy decided to stay home because I would not have gotten to go anyway. The place that they are staying at will not let me stay there. I guess I could have stayed with Uncle Brownie and Aunt Vickie, but I did not want to impose on them. I could have stayed at their neighbor's house... I think they would have liked me to stay. Maybe I will get an invitation one day. (I am trying to guilt them, can you tell?? Think it will work?)

Aunt Jen and Uncle Rob are south also. They are visiting Uncle Rob's family. But they did not invite me either! But I am sure that they took Lady and Charlie with them. Probably not enough room in the car. What are they going to do when "Baby Thorn" gets here? I need to have a talk with Lady and Charlie and forewarn them. :-)

Ok, so I am going to beg Mommy and Daddy to take me south one day. I keep hearing about the beach and the BIG boat that Uncle Brownie has. And I understand that there is so much to smell also. Fun, fun, fun!!

And that's just the dog's life - at home!

Welcome to the family, Jack!!

Meghan did it! It is all her fault!! I am not so sure that I like it, but what can I do about it? I can run from it! I did not bark at it! I started to though - it was attacking my mommy's toes. I can not figure it out. I am bigger than it, right now. Maybe not for too long.

Meghan had to tell a special friend goodbye a couple of weeks ago. Bandit, who had been in the family for quite some time, longer than me, went to a special place. His new home is at the lake. Uncle Jamie took him there. It was a sad day. But Meghan is better now, especially now that she has Jack. Jack is a new puppy. He is only 10 weeks old, a little younger than Noah. He is small and fluffy. I think they said that he is part cocker spaniel part lab. I am not so sure. I did not really like him when he came to my house for a visit. I ran from him.

I did tell him about my friends at Petsmart at the Banfield Animal Hospital. He went to see Nurse Libby yesterday!! They took good care of him. Because I told him to go there, they gave Aunt Dorinda a discount and they are giving my Mommy a discount too. I really like them. They told Aunt Dorinda that I am a sweet girl but I like to talk a lot. I am sure that Daddy would say that I get that from my Mommy. (Like Mother, Like Daughter!) I try to tell them that they do not have to put me in the "crate" that I am a big girl and can walk around by myself. Do they listen to me, yes (cause they have to) but they do not do like I say! Oh well! At least I do not have to go there too often. I thought I would have to go last week, since I was sick, but it was just a stomach bug I guess - or my cheeseburger!

And that's just the dog's life!

My 100th Post

Happy 100th post to my blog!!! Can you believe that I have had 100 stories to tell?? Wow!! Mommy and I never thought that we would make it this far. Thank you to all of my readers and supporters. I love telling stories of my family, the good stories and the bad stories. And I love telling on my family!!

I also want to wish my Nina and Papaw a Happy Anniversary!! They celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on June 2nd. The family got to enjoy a nice dinner together. I did not get to go to dinner with them (for obvious reasons) but I did get to enjoy the day at Momma Gena and GrandDanny's house. They took me on a nice long walk where I took care of my business several times!

Thanks everyone! I love you all!!

A Day at Oak Mountain

Uncle Paul had a big birthday party for his special day. We all spent the day at Oak Mountain! It was so much fun! Mommy and Daddy let me go since I was feeling much better. Daddy and GrandDanny pulled the "putt-putt" boat while Momma Gena drove me, Mommy and Noah in the suburban.

We got there and I had to sniff the whole pavilion that we had rented. Daddy even tied me to a tree. While Mommy was helping settle Noah in, Daddy and GrandDanny unloaded the boat into the water. They went fishing for a while. Once they returned, we decided that it was time to eat. I decided to help myself to a hot dog winnie that I found. Mommy tried to take it from me, but it was too late. I had already devoured it.

After lunch, Daddy and Papaw decided it was time for them to take the boat out. They stayed gone for a long time. When they got back, Daddy was soaking wet and Papaw was laughing. They would not tell what had happened. But Papaw could not hold it in much longer. Papaw started telling what had happened but then Daddy had to tell his side of the story. All he kept saying was "I took one for the team." Apparently, Papaw was moving back to the front of the putt-putt boat when he lost his balance. He slipped and tried to catch himself, but when he did, he and Daddy ended up on the same side of the boat and they said that boat was within inches of going over. In the process, somehow Daddy fell over backwards into the water. All I could think was wondering what Uncle Brownie would say to this. Mommy thought it was hilarious! Daddy was ready to go soon after. So Daddy was soaking wet the rest of the day. And they tried to make me ride with them!! Yeah right! I tried to ride with them to dock the boat, but the bottom of the boat was too hot on my paws and I jumped right out. So I walked in the water instead.

I had a really good time and enjoyed my day out to Oak Mountain. I slept so good that night and all day on Sunday. Maybe we can go back again soon once Daddy puts carpet in the boat and it won't burn my paws!

And that's just the dog's life!

Happy Belated Birthday, Uncle Paul!!

Happy Belated Birthday To You...
Happy Belated Birthday To You...
Happy Belated Birthday, Uncle Paul...
Happy Belated Birthday To You!!! (woof, woof, woof!)

My Uncle Paul celebrated a very special birthday last Friday. I don't know if he wants me to say how old he turned, but he turned the BIG 4-0!!! That is 280 years in my life span!

I am sorry that I did not get to post his birthday wishes on his birthday but I was sick. Papaw fed me a bite of his Burger King burger on Thursday night and it did not set to well with my tummy. In fact, Mommy and I were up most of the night. She sat up with me on the couch to let me outside when I needed to go. So I spent Friday at Momma Gena's house on the couch. I finally felt better Friday night when I downed a whole bowl of dog food!

And that's just the dog's life!

Happy Birthday, GrandDanny

Happy Birthday To Woo...
Happy Birthday To Woo..
Happy Birthday, GrandDanny...
Happy Birthday To Woo!!! Woof, Woof, Woof!

Today is a very special day. It is my GrandDanny's birthday. I don't know if I am supposed to say how old he is today, but I am going to anyway! HAHA! He is 62 years old. This is a big birthday for GrandDanny because he gets a new "paycheck" next month. This is good for Maggie because he will buy me treats! At least I hope he does! :-)

The family went out to celebrate last night. They went out to eat and then to Aunt Jennifer's house for birthday cake. I am very mad at my family because I did not get to go to Aunt Jennifer's house. I am not talking to any of them. Well, I will talk to GrandDanny because it is not his fault. But Mommy, Daddy, Momma Gena, Aunt Jennifer, Uncle Paul and even Noah and Jake are all on my list! I missed a trip to the doggy park. Trust me, I knew what I had missed as soon as Mommy and Daddy got home last night!

GrandDanny is at my house with me today! He is working on the boat! We are going to Oak Mountain on Saturday for a day of fun to celebrate Uncle Paul's birthday. (Uncle Paul also has a big birthday on Friday. Again, don't know if I am supposed to tell you how old he is, but I will on Friday!!) I am so excited about Saturday! Me, Daddy and GrandDanny are going to go fishing in the putt-putt boat. (that is as fast as it goes, putt, putt, putt putt.) I am going to have So much fun. We went to Oak Mountain 2 years ago to celebrate GrandDanny's 60th birthday. I barked all day long! I even went into the water... it required a bath when I got home, but it was worth it! I will probably play in the water again this time, and again, the bath will be worth it! You will have to check back next week for some funny stories from my Saturday adventure!! The weather is supposed to be perfect!!

And that's just the dog's life!

I am such a BIG girl

Mommy is so proud of me!! I have stayed out of my bedroom 2 different days this week. How good am I? Mommy makes my bed on the couch and she leaves the small window blinds open and leaves the tv on and I am set to go. I like to watch people walk up and down the street. I like to keep tabs on Dusty and his afternoon walks. I occasionally talk to people as they walk, but I have not torn anything up. I am such a big girl now!

If I could just talk Daddy to giving me a "doggy door" so that I can go to the back yard when I want, but I do not think that will ever happen!!

This weekend is Memorial Day... and my GrandDanny's birthday! Mommy has to work at the store tomorrow but Sunday and Monday will be good restful days at home with the family! Stay safe and enjoy your holiday weekend. (I gotta go clean the house real quick... Momma Gena and GrandDanny are coming over for burgers tonight!!)

And that's just the dog's life!

I am SO sorry...

I have fallen so behind on my blogging. So much has been happening that I have not been able to keep up. Where do I start...

Well, everyone has gotten just about settled in to the new office locations. I have only seen it once, so I do not know. This is just what they tell me. Aunt Jonica is getting very excited about her bakery, and so is everyone else. The health inspector is coming out on Monday and hopefully she can open soon following that!! I have heard a rumor that she is going to be selling homemade doggie treats. I think she needs a professional taster!

Mommy, Daddy and Papaw had their booth at Dog Daze in Trussville last Saturday. I had so much fun. I had to talk to every dog that walked past me. The weather held off for us!

Noah was dedicated at church last Sunday, Mother's Day. I did not get to see it, but I heard that it was sweet! Everyone came to our house for lunch afterwards. I got to see Momma Gena, GrandDanny, Aunt Jennifer, Uncle Paul, Jake, Nina, Papaw, Aunt Dorinda, Uncle Jamie, Meghan, Nanny, Grandma, Aunt Audrey, Barney, Tammy, David & Dianna. Aunt Jen and Uncle Rob even came. Did I tell you that Aunt Jen is going to have a baby? Mommy is SO excited. I am going to have to pass my words of wisdom to Charlie and Lady!!

I also celebrated my 3 year "Gotcha" Anniversary on May 6th. I can not believe that has been 3 years since I joined Mommy and Daddy's family. It has been the best 3 years of my life! While we were at Dog Daze, a man from the Pell City Animal Shelter, my former life, came by. And guess what - he remembered me! Mommy told him that they called me "Shania" that Saturday but I am now Maggie! I think Maggie fits me much better!

Well, now that I have written a book, I think that sums up everything from the last week. See, I told you that we have been busy! Mommy has a wedding this weekend, so we will not see much of her. I have to take care of my boys this weekend (Daddy & Noah are my boys!)

Welcome Baby Lexi!!!

I want to welcome Miss Alexis Faith Day to the world. She was born on Monday, April 27th to the very proud parents of Jennifer and Sean Day!! Mrs. Jennifer is one of my Mommy's best friends and Mr. Sean is my friend (he comes over to play with ME!)

I am very excited to have Lexi in Noah's life. They will play together all the time and hopefully not pull my ears too much! It will give me a break from playing with Noah. But wait... this means that there will be more little fingers to help feed me under the table! Hum, this could be a good thing.

And that's just the dog's life!

Kayleigh Update

Mommy and I are sad to say that Kayleigh has passed away. I say that we are sad, but it is actually a rejoice for Kayleigh. Mommy says that her little body had been through so much in the last 11 months that it was tired of fighting.

Mommy keeps reading Kayleigh's blog updates, and it appears that her family is holding their own. They say that they have their good moments and their bad moments. They are having a memorial service for Kayleigh on Sunday in North Carolina. Mommy wishes we could drive there, but we know that it is not possible!

Here is the link to her blog again. There is an address where you can mail cards to her family!

A note from Mommy

Hey Guys,

I want to ask prayer for a little girl. Her name is Kayleigh Ann Freeman. She is 10 months old and is very sick. She was born very premature and has never left the hospital. When she was born, she weighed 1 pound 1 ounce. Kayleigh has endured many surgeries and come through with flying colors when the doctors never gave her hope. She has gone through more in her short lifespan than many people go through in a lifetime. Kayleigh's last surgery was supposed to be a fairly easy one and would give her the opportunity to go home following it. Instead, Kayleigh suffered. Her brain was deprived of oxygen leaving her brain dead. Her brain stems are still going which is allowing her heart to pump and letting her breath but there are no emotions from Kayleigh. Her family feels that this is the beginning of the end for Kayleigh.

Her mom, Amiee, posted a very sweet post that truly touched my heart. I pray that you take the time to read it. She posted it on May 1st.

Please keep this family in your prayers. They have gone through SO much this last year and have so much more to go through!

Their blog is listed as one of Maggie's Friends, but it is also http://www.kayleighannefreeman.blogspot.com/.

Thanks everyone!

Happy Odd Day!

That is right... today is Odd Day. Today's date is 05-07-09, so HAPPY ODD DAY!

Mommy and I heard this on the tv this morning. We forgot how many they said, but supposedly this will only happen 2 more times this century, but we do not know what the dates are. Oh well!

Momma Gena and GrandDanny head South

Momma Gena and GrandDanny left without me. I did not get to stow away in the suitcase. I know that it would have been ok with Aunt Vickie and Uncle Brownie for me to visit too. But they did not invite me. :-( I could go fishing with GrandDanny and Uncle Brownie. I could ride the boat and go to LuLu's for dinner. I would be a good girl... I promise (yeah, right!)

It would have been ok with Aunt Vickie and Uncle Brownie, but it would have required Momma Gena and GrandDanny to take my bedroom with them. It would have been a big hassle, plus I would really miss Noah.(Actually, I would really miss my mommy!) I guess it is ok I didn't get to go this time and I sure am looking forward to all the TREATS GranDanny will be bringing me back *hint* Daddy actually mentioned something about GranDanny bringing back some fish but that doesn't sound as good as TREATS to me? Mommy and Daddy promised me a trip to Orange Beach one day. They really want to see what I would do in the sand. Plus, I really do want to ride on Uncle Brownie's big boat. I think there would be tons to smell.

So, Aunt Vickie and Uncle Brownie (and all of their friends who follow my stories) -- I will make it to Orange Beach one day. I promise. And we will make a party of it too!

And that's just the dog's life!
